Hi, I’m Zion (19) an American/South African artist, based in the Netherlands.
For as long as I can remember, I have been surrounded by creativity, with my mother as my main source of it. What started off as drawings to pass time, has developed itself into an opportant tool for self expression to me.
After a turbulent childhood I have found a way to process my memories and feelings into my paintings. From my estranged relationship with my mother to my current relationships to others, but also how I see myself and discovering my Xhosa heritage.
My paintings are surreal depictions of my emotions and experiences through selfportraiture. I occasionally include company to express how I feel in interaction with others, and always portray personal symbolism.
I am now studying in art school, where I am discovering and expanding my style and developing ways to translate my visions with a diversity of media. However my preference currently lies in painting onto canvas.
